With a regular membership of around 80, this
lively, well-established Choir, under the leadership of
John Bayley, and accompanied by
Darren Hogg, gives at least 4 concerts a year, with a varied repertoire, in and
around Solihull.
-
Rehearsals are held weekly on Tuesday evenings at St
Peter’s School, Whitefields Road, Solihull, from 7.30 to 9.45 p.m. New
members are always made very welcome (especially tenors) and a simple
audition takes place a few weeks after settling in.
-
The Choir is keen to encourage
new music and young singers by commissioning, establishing links with
junior choirs and offering free membership and music to young singers
under its scholarship scheme.
-
We are delighted to have the
services of Gaynor Keeble, the
well-known local mezzo-soprano, as vocal coach. Members benefit
from regular workshop voice training sessions.
As well as a busy
concert schedule, the Choir enjoys a varied social programme, including
concert tours both in this country and abroad. In 2008 we toured
Poland - click here to find out all about it.
In 2009 we undertook a mini-tour to Sidmouth,
and visited Hungary in 2011.
-
